Hudson Heavy Industries Ltd operates Kickstart Signal and is responsible for its developer account data. Contact hello@kickstart.tools about privacy or your data.

Kickstart Signal stores ideas, not identities. It does not track the people using participating apps, build profiles of them, or hold any means of contacting them.

Information from developers

Kickstart Signal uses the shared Kickstart developer account. It keeps the email address you used to sign in, your registered apps and their public App Store listing details, each board’s settings, and a record of the actions you take on a board: approvals, edits, rejections, merges, status changes, replies, and deletions. It uses this information to provide and protect the service. Public App Store listing materials and app participation information may also be used for public promotion as described below.

Information from people using your app

When the board first loads in an installation of your app, the SDK generates a random identifier and keeps it on the device. Requests to Kickstart Signal carry that identifier, and Signal stores only a hash of it, so that a vote counts once per installation and so the person can see their own submissions. The identifier is not derived from the person, the device, or an Apple ID, and Kickstart Signal cannot connect it to anyone.

Signal stores what people choose to submit: feature request titles and descriptions, comments, and votes. It does not accept or store names, email addresses, account identifiers, purchase or revenue information, country, location, or any other details about the person, and the SDK provides no way for an app to send them. Free-form text can contain anything the person types, so it is treated as user content: it is shown only to the app’s developer until that developer approves it, and the developer can edit or delete it at any time.

To limit abuse, Signal counts requests in short-lived buckets per board, per installation identifier, and per connecting address. The address is used only as a keyed digest inside those expiring buckets. It is never stored with content, moderation records, audit records, or exports.

Kickstart Signal sends no email to the people using your app and has no notification system. It does not sell any of this information or create profiles of app users.

Public promotion

While your app participates, Hudson Heavy Industries Ltd may use its name, icon, and public App Store listing materials to promote your app and the Kickstart services it uses on our websites, social media, and marketing materials. We may publicly identify your app as using those services and publish aggregate counts of participating apps, as explained in the terms of service. This public promotion does not include your account email address, board settings, or the content of your board.

Service providers

Kickstart Signal is delivered through Cloudflare, which provides its network, security, and content delivery. Every request to Kickstart’s hostnames – signal.kickstart.tools, dashboard.kickstart.tools, and api.kickstart.tools – passes through Cloudflare, including the requests that apps using the SDK make, so Cloudflare processes the connecting IP address as an ordinary part of delivering that traffic. Kickstart Signal does not store those addresses or use them to identify anyone.

Sign-in codes and account emails are sent through Resend, which receives the developer’s email address. App Store listing details are read from Apple’s public App Store pages, using ScraperAPI to fetch them; that involves no information about the people using participating apps.

Retention and choices

Kickstart Signal keeps account information while you participate, and keeps a board’s requests, comments, votes, status history, and moderation records for as long as the board exists. Developers can delete individual requests and comments from their dashboard. Disabling a board keeps its content; deleting all Signal data from the account page removes every board and everything on it immediately, while leaving the Kickstart account, registered apps, and Kickstart Exchange data untouched. Deleting an app removes its board with it, and deleting the account removes everything. After a deletion, Signal keeps only a content-free record that something was deleted, with no account, app, board, or installation identifier attached.

Developers can download their Signal data from the account page as one compressed file. The file and its download link expire after a short time, after which a new export can be requested.

Developers can delete their account from the account page, or contact hello@kickstart.tools to ask for access, correction, deletion, or another applicable data-protection right. Because Kickstart Signal cannot identify the people using an app, someone who wants a submission changed or removed should contact the app’s developer, who can edit or delete it. Anyone may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
